This Privacy Policy explains how TravelHubChina ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website at https://travelhubchina.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Email address — only when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us.
- Name — only if you provide it in a contact form or email.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited. Retained for 30 days for security and analytics.
- Cookies — small text files stored by your browser. We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies — for site functionality (no consent required).
- Analytics cookies — first-party, privacy-friendly (Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible) — no cross-site tracking, no personal data, IP-anonymized.
- Affiliate cookies — set by partner sites (Trip.com, Klook, Booking.com, etc.) when you click an outbound link. See Section 4.
2. How we use your information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Deliver and improve the Service.
- Send you the newsletter (only if you subscribed — you can unsubscribe in one click).
- Respond to your direct inquiries.
- Detect and prevent abuse or security incidents.
- Measure aggregate, anonymized traffic patterns.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except as described in Section 4.
3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, our legal bases are:
- Consent — for newsletter signup and non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interest — for site operation, security, and basic analytics.
- Contract — when you contact us and request a response.
4. Third-party services we use
We use the following service providers, each acting as a data processor under our instructions:
- Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, hosting, security. (Privacy Policy)
- Mailchimp or similar — newsletter delivery. You can unsubscribe from every email.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics.
- Giscus — community comments (powered by GitHub Discussions).
4.1 Affiliate partners
When you click an outbound link to one of our affiliate partners (currently Trip.com, Klook, Booking.com, 12Go, Viator, and selected eSIM providers), that partner may set their own cookies or read your IP to attribute a referral. We do not control those cookies. The relevant partner policies:

5. Your rights
5.1 General rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (receive a copy in a machine-readable format).
5.2 GDPR-specific rights (EEA residents)
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing).
5.3 CCPA-specific rights (California residents)
You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
5.4 How to exercise your rights
Email hello@travelhubchina.com with the subject "Privacy Request". We respond within 30 days.
6. Data retention
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Contact emails: up to 2 years for context continuity, then deleted.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us for deletion.
8. International transfers
We are based in Hong Kong, and our hosting (Cloudflare) operates globally. By using the Service, you understand your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, the European Union, and other jurisdictions where our processors operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers out of the EEA.
9. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, store no payment data, and rely on Cloudflare's security stack. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we follow industry best practices to protect your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the site.
