How to use this card
- Save it before you travel. Download the whole pack from /rescue-cards/ and it works offline — no app, no data plan.
- Show the big Chinese line to whoever you are talking to. They read characters; the English at the bottom is for you.
- Say it out loud too if they hesitate. A spoken request gets a faster answer than a silent card, and repeating it removes all doubt.
- Read the English to understand the reply.
What they will likely say
- “扫码就行。” — Just scan the code.
- “要下载这个App。” — You need to download this app.
- “我用手机帮你开。” — Let me open it on my phone for you.
- “停在路边就行。” — Just park it at the roadside.
Pro tips
- Orange bikes are Meituan (美团), blue and white are Hellobike (哈啰) or DiDi (青桔). You do not need to know which is which — scan the code on the handlebar.
- You need a Chinese ID number for some apps, not just a phone number. A hotel desk that has seen this before can usually sort it in five minutes.
- Park inside the marked zones or the app bills you. The bikes are everywhere precisely because this is enforced.
