How to use this card

1. Save it before you travel. Download the whole pack from /rescue-cards/ and it works offline — no app, no data plan.
2. Show the big Chinese line to whoever you are talking to. They read characters; the English at the bottom is for you.
3. Say it out loud too if they hesitate. A spoken request gets a faster answer than a silent card, and repeating it removes all doubt.
4. Read the English to understand the reply.

What they will likely say

• “好，我写给你。” — Sure, I will write it down for you.
• “你叫什么名字？” — What is your name?
• “这是我的微信。” — This is my WeChat.
• “收好了。” — Keep this safe.

Pro tips

• Take a photo of what they wrote as well as keeping the paper. Both fail at different things.
• Have them write the address in Chinese characters, not pinyin. Taxi drivers read characters, not romanisation.
• This is how you get a WeChat contact with zero other language. Write your WeChat ID on your phone screen and say 可以加微信吗 (kěyǐ jiā Wēixìn ma).
