How to use this card

1. Save it before you travel. Download the whole pack from /rescue-cards/ and it works offline — no app, no data plan.
2. Show the big Chinese line to whoever you are talking to. They read characters; the English at the bottom is for you.
3. Say it out loud too if they hesitate. A spoken request gets a faster answer than a silent card, and repeating it removes all doubt.
4. Read the English to understand the reply.

What they will likely say

• “可以刷卡，扫这个。” — Yes, card is fine — scan this code.
• “我们只收现金。” — We only take cash.
• “只能微信或者支付宝。” — WeChat or Alipay only.
• “银联可以，visa 不行。” — UnionPay yes, Visa no.

Pro tips

• Ask for 银联 (yínlián) explicitly. A shop that says “no cards” to you may well take UnionPay all day.
• Having Alipay or WeChat Pay bound to your own card removes this question entirely. Set both up before you fly — that is the single highest-leverage hour of trip preparation.
• Always look for the final price before you scan. 扫码 (sǎo mǎ, “scan the code”) is how the payment is described, and it covers everything on screen including a service charge.
